According to BristolLive, West Brom are in a race to sign Burnley striker Matej Vydra before Friday’s transfer deadline, but they face stiff competition from their promotion rivals.
What’s the word?
It’s claimed that the 27-year-old is emerging as a potential option as he seeks crucial game time ahead of the Czech Republic’s Euro 2020 campaign this summer.
Vydra has featured for just 100 minutes in the Premier League this campaign, so he may need to look elsewhere if he to make his national team’s squad.
Nottingham Forest and Bristol City, who both currently sit in the playoffs, are also keen on adding the former Derby frontman.
Per the same source, it is believed that Burnley would be unwilling to sell both Vydra and Nahki Wells, who they recalled from Queens Park Rangers earlier this week.
Business not yet complete
West Brom announced the loan signing of Sheffield United forward Callum Robinson earlier this morning, and it appears as if they aren’t done just yet.
The Baggies were defeated last night to make it a run of seven straight games without a victory in the Championship – in doing so, they relinquished their stay at the top to Leeds United.

It appears as if Albion boss Slaven Bilic is keen on finding a solution through the transfer market with at least another signing due through the door at the Hawthorns before 11pm on Friday.
Vydra would present an interesting option as his record in the division is prolific. He has scored 67 times in 192 appearances, also winning the Golden Boot in 2017/18 for the Rams.
Who the heck is that?! Can you name all of these obscure West Brom players…
Transfermarkt currently value the striker at £4.5m, but it remains to be seen how much he would actually cost the Baggies or if they would rather pursue another loan move.
And in other news, this West Brom regular has been likened to Dimitar Berbatov for all the wrong reasons this week…
