On deadline day, Armstrong was supposed to sign with the Red Dragons. The striker has now joined League One outfit Carlisle United and has already passed the medicals as was announced by the club.

After 21 games, Carlisle are three points from safety and currently sit in 21st place in League One. After overseeing two promotions during his last spell, manager Simpson led the Brunton Park team to promotion through the playoffs in his first full season back at the club last term. Wrexham, on the other hand, look like one of the favorites for promotion to League One as they sit third in League Two, six points behind table toppers Stockport County.

Wrexham splashed the cash on former Scotland international Steven Fletcher after failing to sign Armstrong in order to cover for injured striker Paul Mullin, who sustained a perforated lung during a preseason friendly with Manchester United.
WHAT NEXT FOR ARMSTRONG?
The striker will join Carlisle United once the transfer window opens on January 1. He will likely play at least three more games for Harrogate Town before the end of the year, starting with Grimsby Town on Saturday, December 23.
